Excuses

Excuses, excuses and yet more excuses, what can I say, the decommissioning of the Office live has caused me a headache, as it must have done many people. This is getting to be a habit from Microsoft, give and then take away, I am not sure it they think that it is going to bring in more business or it they just do not care! Upset a whole bunch in the small business world.

Had they just made an easy way to upgrade to Office 365 I am sure that many more people may have moved/migrated to the new, more feature filled and robust platform. I do not feel that the cost is an issue but the effort it needed to migrate was a show stopper for may individuals.

I had a few migrations that needed to be done, and even for a small site it took much longer than anticipated, so actually cost more to migrate than the cost of hosting. A great way to make extra money and loose customers.

Well that now done let me get back to the purpose of this blog, to create a SharePoint 2010 site that can be used as a portfolio management system.

My next blog will start with a description of the template that I used as a starting point, the old “Managing multiple projects” site template that was left over  from the Fab 40 Microsoft templates and migrated to SharePoint 2010 by our friends at TechSolutions, our thanks go to them for their effort for converting so many of the MOSS templates and making them available for all to use.
